Hades

Hades is an amazing coaster! My friends Brian, Scott and I got a chance to ride it on it's second day of operation - May 15, 2005. And WOW! Were we blown away! This coaster exceeded all expectations I had, and jumped to #4 in my coaster rankings. If you love the intensity of Raven and Legend at Holiday World, and Tremors at Silverwood, you will LOVE Hades! Come to the new Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park this summer! You won't regret it!

Since I finally upgraded to digital last year, I'm able to get my pictures up quicker and at a much better quality. And! I take a lot more too! (If you can believe that one). I took a ton of Hades, and whittled them down to the following. I'll do my best to explain what's happening at each step so you can virtually ride along with me, (I've also taken some video and will include it where it fits in) so hold on, 'cuz this one's a doozy!

The station packs a surprise! A first drop that yanks you out of your seat in the back of the train.

Who needs a lift hill at the beginning of a coaster? Hades packs a punch right at the start!

This is what the first drop looks like from the front car. Is your heart pounding yet?

Here's what the first drop looks like from outside the station.

Immediately after the first drop, you hit a banked turn to the right...

...and thrown out of your seat in a Cornball-Express-ending-type lateral pop. Whee!!
Immediately afterwards, you hit a powerful double down with such great airtime
that makes Cyclops' "famous drop" pale in comparison!

Then you make a left turn, and again, hit another lateral-pop right before climbing the lift hill.
Wow! 4 major pops of air before you hit the lift? That's unheard of! :)

I really like this picture of the drop off of the lift. You can see all 3 Mt. O's major woodies in this shot!

Again, you get yanked down when the lift releases you. And where do you end up?

    IN THE TUNNEL!!

Yes folks, Hades' 700 ft. tunnel runs all the way underneath the parking lot and pops out
for a brief appearance before diving back in. And what happens IN the tunnel?
You'll just have to find out for yourself. 'Cuz I don't think I could explain it if I tried!
Up, down, left, right - yeah, it all happens. It's CRAZY!

You can see how far the distance is from one half of the coaster to the other in this shot.

It's amazing how much time you actually spend in the tunnel. It seems like a split second!

Upon exiting the tunnel, you're able to catch your breath for a quick second in the turnaround.

This floater hill really reminds me of Tremors' 2nd hill.
Count 'em 1---2---3---4---5 seconds of floater air (especially in seat 1.2)
as you dive back into the underground tunnel. It's pure bliss.

Here's my artsy shot of the floater hill as you dive back into hell... I mean Hades.

A few seconds later and a bit disoriented, you exit out of the tunnel, thinking, "WHAT just happened!?"

There's a slightly uneventful hill and drop underneath the stairs leading to the station...
(Forget the stairmaster! You'll definitely get your workout climbing these 43 stairs time and again!)

...and a large curve with some smaller hills, leading to...

(And yes, the train is going slower than the rest of the ride in this section!)

...the final helix, which slows down the train before coming back to the station.

Hope you enjoyed your ride! Now, exit down the stairs and down the hill,
walk back up the hill and the incline leading to the stairs, up the stairs & ride again!
Phew! Breathe! ;) Ah well. It's absolutely worth it. Trust me on this one. You'll see.
