Viper

I... LOVE... Viper!! It is definitely my favorite coaster in the park, even after Raging Bull was installed. It has the most ejector airtime I've ever ridden in a wooden coaster and I've now learned the best way to ride this coaster. The best seat is in the first car, last seat (which some lovingly refer to as seat 1:3). If I can get away with keeping my lap bar up, I can get some stand-up airtime! In other words, I am vaulted into the air so hard and so fast that I'm almost standing up after every drop! It is one of the most incredible experiences you can get from a roller coaster. At night, Viper is even more ferocious and goes even faster than it does during the day. It is just... awesome. Well, enough of my review, here's the general overview of Viper that I wrote last year before I fell in love with the coaster...

Viper is almost a direct clone from "The greatest coaster ever built", the Coney Island Cyclone. From what I've heard, it's probably the closest match to the original. I'd have to say that it's the best coaster in the park with tremendous amount of airtime. On our last ride of our second trip this year, Geoff and I had our lap bars up a little too high and over some hills found ourselves almost standing straight up! It was scary, but man, was it fun! The theming of this ride is pretty cool too, with it's broken staircase and "rotten" sheds. Don't miss this ride when visiting Great America!...

Ever hear of "perfect timing"? :)

    From Sky Trek Tower
A safer aerial shot of Viper was taken from Sky Trek Tower this summer.

A neat almost silhouette view of the coaster cresting the lift hill, and it's entrance.

    Banked Turn
    The very recognizable turn.

    Wood everywhere to be seen!
